Huxley’s Bird of Prey Centre and Garden is seeking dedicated and passionate volunteers to join our team. As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in the daily care of our magnificent birds of prey while helping us maintain our beautiful grounds and provide an exceptional experience for our visitors. This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with raptors, learn from experienced handlers, and contribute to the welfare of these incredible creatures. Whether you’re considering a career in animal care or simply have a love for birds of prey, we’d love to hear from you. 

 What You’ll Do: 

 Your day-to-day activities may include: 

 • Cleaning aviaries and maintaining enclosures 
 • Preparing and delivering meals for our birds 
 • Filling water bowls and ensuring fresh supply throughout the day 
 • Assisting with general site maintenance (sweeping, weeding, and light repairs) 
 • Interacting with visitors and sharing your knowledge about our birds 
 • Supporting staff during flying demonstrations and educational talks What You’ll Gain:

Requirements:
Commitment & Reliability 

 • Punctuality and adherence to your agreed volunteer schedule 
 • At least 24 hours’ notice if you’re unable to attend a shift 
 • Advance notification of holidays or extended absences Animal Welfare Focus 
 • Strict adherence to all handling and safety protocols 
 • Close observation of birds and immediate reporting of any concerns 
 • Understanding that you’ll only handle birds with proper training and explicit permission Positive Attitude & Professionalism 
 • Respectful, courteous demeanour with staff, volunteers, and visitors • Willingness to learn new skills and take on various tasks 
 • Collaborative team player who takes instruction constructively 
 • Enthusiasm and commitment to giving every task your best effort Practical Requirements • Suitable outdoor clothing: dark or neutral trousers and tops (no logos) 
 • Sturdy work boots or suitable footwear 
 • Minimal jewellery (no hanging earrings for safety reasons) 
 • Phone use limited to emergencies or work-related purposes
